Our standard electrician labour rate is $100 to $150 per hour. Once we find the root cause, common electrical repairs—such as replacing damaged outlets, faulty switches, or loose breakers—usually total between $150 and $450 depending on parts and time required. Diagnostic service calls focus purely on fault isolation, whereas fixed repairs cover replacing broken devices or fixing loose conductor connections.

Electrical Panel Repair and Replacement

Minor panel repairs that do not require replacing the entire enclosure—such as replacing individual worn breakers or tightening busbar connections—cost $200 to $600.

A complete main service panel upgrade from 100A to 200A ranges from $2,000 to $4,500 or more. This price includes removing the old panel, mounting a modern 200A board, re-terminating branch circuits, setting up main grounding, and pulling the required electrical permit from Technical Safety BC. Upgrading your panel gives your home the ampacity needed for high-draw modern equipment.

Wiring Repairs and Complete Home Rewiring

Adding new dedicated circuits or replacing damaged individual branch lines costs $250 to $750 per circuit. This covers running dedicated copper wire from your main panel to high-draw appliances, shop tools, or outdoor locations.

For older homes requiring complete wire replacement throughout, full house rewiring ranges from $8,000 to $25,000 or more. Final pricing depends on home square footage, wall construction, ceiling height, and crawlspace access. Rewiring eliminates worn branch lines and provides grounded outlets throughout your home.

Lighting Installation Pricing

Replacing existing decorative ceiling fixtures, wall sconces, or ceiling fans costs $100 to $300 per standard fixture when connecting to existing electrical boxes.

Installing new recessed LED pot lights ranges from $150 to $350 per recessed light. This includes cutting clean drywall openings, running branch wiring through joist spaces, mounting IC-rated fixtures, and connecting dimmer switches. Adding new light positions requires running cabling inside walls or ceiling joists, which accounts for the higher per-light cost.

EV Charging Station Installation

Installing a Level 2 EV charging station ranges from $1,000 to $3,000 for a Level 2 setup, charger hardware not included. This covers installing a double-pole 240V breaker, running heavy copper cable to your parking spot, mounting the charger, and pulling the mandatory Technical Safety BC permit. Several physical factors decide where your job falls within these price ranges. Accessibility is a key driver. Open basements and accessible attics allow us to run cable quickly, while finished drywall or tight crawlspaces take more time and labour.

Panel capacity also affects price. If your panel is full, adding new circuits or an EV charger may require adding a subpanel or completing a 200A panel upgrade first. We evaluate your main panel during our site visit and explain all costs in writing before starting.

Why Two Similar Electrical Jobs Price Differently

Homeowners often wonder why an installation in one home costs more or less than a similar installation down the street. The main reason is how electrical cabling must be routed. If an electrician can fish cable through an unfinished basement ceiling, installation goes much faster than when cable must pass through finished drywall or multi-storey structures.

Another factor is main panel capacity and distance. Running a 50-amp Level 2 EV charger circuit five feet from a main panel located in a garage takes significantly less heavy copper wire and labour than running a circuit seventy-five feet through a finished home to an outdoor driveway.
